Dental hygiene treatment includes professionally cleaning the teeth, often called scaling and polishing.

The dental and hygiene team play an important role in treating gum disease.

We recommend ongoing hygiene care once every three to six months (depending on your individual needs) to keep your teeth clean, your gums healthy and your breath smelling sweet.

Our hygienists can discuss brushing and flossing techniques to help maintain your oral hygiene.

The basis of a beautiful, strong smile is your oral hygiene routine, which can be accomplished in 3 easy steps:

  • Brushing: Brushing your teeth with a fluoride based toothpaste twice a day for two minutes is the bedrock of a good dental health regime. Change your toothbrush every 3 months and ensure that you can clean your teeth and massage your gums without causing any damage to the enamel or the gum tissue.
  • Flossing: Whether you use dental floss, ribbon or interdental brushes, cleaning between your teeth is one of the best ways to stop the development of infection and decay. If it is not done plaque, bacteria and food debris can collect and eat away at your tooth enamel and gum tissue. Do not worry if your gums bleed at first as this will soon stop with maintained and regular flossing.
  • Mouthwash: Mouthwash is the finishing touch to your oral health routine, removing any leftover debris, plaque and bacteria from the hard to reach areas of your mouth.
